D#2, HW#8, Focusing Your Research Topic

I'm not sure If we are supposed to have actually picked out a research topic in order to answer this assignment, but I will go ahead with a topic that interests me a lot and could potentially be my topic. First of all, I think focusing your topic is one of the greatest things and hardest things you can do when writing a research paper. You may find out that you wanted to write about too much information that just isn't feasible or you may find out that you don't have enough information/ideas to support your topic. Anyway, I think for writing a research paper on Abstinence Only education in high schools sub topics could be; 1) what exactly is being taught, 2) what kind of results are occurring throughout the years of this type of education, and 3) who is pushing this type of education. Some sub-categories of the results may include teen pregnancy rates, the number of teens who contract STD's, and the number of teens that engage in oral sex. A sub-category of who is pushing this type of education would be why are they pushing abstinence only education.
