D#3, HW#4, People Interested In My Topic
I feel like most of the nation should be at least slightly concerned about my topic. Abstinence-only sex education literally affects every person in this country. Even if you yourself do not have children you have to worry about the mass spread of STD's by uneducated teenagers going out and having sex, you have to worry about the population growth caused by unplanned pregnancies, etc. This issue really is a national problem. Specific groups of people that will be directly affected by this topic are parents, teenagers, teachers, politicians, and religious communities. With the research I hope to find on this topic parents will hopefully not freak out and ignore their children when they ask about condoms or sex. Parents will also hopefully put pressure on politicians and schools to teach safe-sex education instead of abstinence-only. Teenagers will hopefully learn that if they are being forced into taking abstinence-only education classes there are a lot of resources out there to help them find answers to any of their problems or questions. Hopefully politicians will start promoting safe-sex education classes and steer away from abstinence-only education. And lastly, in regards to this topic I hope different religious communities will teach what they believe (abstinence etc.), but still provide proper resources for teens that may veer from that belief and have sex.

I agree with you. I think the only way to help is to educate people. Isn't that what they are doing in Africa to stop the spread of AIDS? Women are not educated and therefore do not know what they should be doing to protect themselves.
I really agree. Teenagers should take sex- education and should know what they will go through. Also parents should have responsibility to educate their children to prevent a hard road in their lives if they get pregnant
